Potluck is a free tool for collecting party photos into one Google Drive folder. It is offered as-is, by one person, with no guarantees. Use it for what it is good at and keep your own copies of anything you care about.
What Potluck does
A host creates an album, which is a folder in their own Google Drive. Guests open a link, enter the album password, and add photos to that folder. There is no account to make and nothing to install.
Your photos are yours
We claim no ownership of and no licence over anything you upload. We do not store, copy, back up or look at your photos. They go from your device to the host's Google Drive, and your relationship with those files is governed by Google's terms, not ours.
Photos live in the host's Drive, so the host controls them. A host can delete the album or any photo in it, and if a host runs out of Drive space or deletes their account, the album goes with it.
Because an album folder has to be open enough for guests to add photos, and Google Drive offers no “add but never remove” setting, anyone with the link is technically able to delete photos in it through Google Drive — including photos they did not upload. Potluck only offers deletion to the host, but it cannot prevent this outside the app, and it has no access to the photos to restore them. If a photo matters to you, keep your own copy.
Passwords and links
The album password is what protects an album, and we never receive it. That means we cannot reset it or recover an album for you. Anyone you give the link and password to can view and add photos, and can pass both on. Share them the way you would share the address of the party.
Fair use
Do not use Potluck to:
Upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to share.
Upload photos of people who have not agreed to be photographed or shared in that setting.
Upload sexual content involving minors, or anything abusive, harassing or threatening.
Attack, overload or attempt to break the service.
We do not moderate albums and cannot see their contents, so enforcement rests with the host, who can remove photos, and with Google, who can act on files stored in Drive. Anyone can hide a photo for everyone using the report button.
Tips
Potluck is free. The tip jar is entirely voluntary, buys no features, and is a gift rather than a purchase, so tips are not refundable.
No warranty
Potluck is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, may lose data, and may change or shut down without notice. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it — including lost photos. If a court decides we are liable anyway, that liability is limited to the amount you have paid us, which for almost everyone is nothing.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top will say when. Continuing to use Potluck after a change means you accept it.
